Any tips (other than having friend with a really long wingspan) on how to get the through hull transducer plug out and back in? Trying to mount my fishfinder on the 2015 revo16 and there's no way my short arms are reaching that plug....I've tried, I've also dislocated a rib, thanks to trying to reach back in there. Didn't have this issue w/ the outback, but others that have a revo have had the same complaint. Any help at this point would be useful....as long as it doesn't require a huge amount of stretching to get in there (that'll have to wait a few days now).

If you don't have any friends with gangly long orangutan arms, you could always get the new 3-way Hobie thru-hull.  They are shipping the 2016 boats with this.  Their installers must have had the same complaints you do.

http://www.austinkayak.com/products/19399/Hobie-Thru-Hull-3-Way-Wiring-Kit.html

The 3-way is secured with screws from the front.  No back-side access required.  Choose the insert(s) you need and goop the hell out of it when you install it.

I don't have decent pics to explain the whole situation, but when the Vantage CT seat came to the Revo line-up in 2015, they had to drop the seat tub to keep the center of gravity the same.  There is very little clearance between the tub and the bottom of the hull.  The old style Hobie through-hull (one of which is installed in the forward wall of the tank well, for the "Raymarine Not Ready" scupper) has a single port, and is installed with a backing nut.  The Vantage CT seat tub makes the location of this thru-hull nearly impossible to access from inside the kayak.

To mitigate the problem, they came out with the new 3-way thru-hull that only requires outside access to install.  It started shipping with the 2016 boats.

This is what I'm looking at, my short arms can't reach that backing nut that's on the the inside of the hull. It sucks and my ribs are jacked right now.

Do you only have to remove it? As in there's a different one going in the hole or you got to put that one back together?

Got to put that back in once I run the transducer cable back into the hull. Gonna see if I can get either someone to come over and reach it or I'm getting pliers and maybe I can reach it then. There's no rush on it, as I've yet to pick up a geartrac mount for it yet. Of course, the whole deal may have been less of a headache had I just decided to use a lowrance fishfinder.

Wow, they put the thru-hull in the bottom of the tank well??  The bottom of my tank well is below the water line in normal use.  Tackle boxes and my bait box literally float around back there.  On the 2016's they moved the fitting up to the front wall of the tank well.  Still danger close to the water line.  If you go call a Hobie dealer and explain that the location is impossible for a normal human to reach, they might be able to get you the 3-way thru-hull on warranty.  Hobie can't possibly say no because if the old style thru-hull was adequate they would still be using it.

Yeah, once installed I've been advised to marine goop the entire thing or else it will fill the hull w/ water. Previous owner gave me that bit of information (it was nice an sealed when I got it, but needing to add my finder I've removed all the goop).

That's the Revo, right ? I just did my Outback '15 and the thru-plug is in the sidewall. I didn't goop it (yet) and didn't take on any pond water but I think I will just to be safe now that I know the install is really final.
