Hi all,

Another new guy here. Been in Portland a few years, mostly chasing steelhead in the metro area and coastal rivers, but this winter, me and a friend of mine started kayak fishing for sturgeon and WOW. That's a new kind of fight. I started looking around for information on kayak fishing in the NW since I have been reminded how much I love it and found this site. I did a lot of rock hopping and I'm looking forward to getting on the water a little more from here on out.

I'm originally from Alabama and did a ton of kayak fishing there for all kinds of species. My favorite was paddling deep into the grass beds where motorboats couldn't go and running topwater through the holes in the weeds. Used to catch some big largemouth that way. Fly fishing for big carp in shallow water is a very close #2. It's no sturgeon, but on a 5wt they'll take you on a sleigh ride.

See you on the water,
Dan
