My Name is Cole, and I'm fairly new to the Vancouver/Portland area. I'm 22 years old and have been fishing just about all of my life, and want to get into the Salmon/Steelhead community around here. So far I've only hit up Lacamas lake / the creek flowing into it and have done really well with brown/rainbow trout on flies and spinners. I'm trying to prepare to get out and catch some Springers, but it's been difficult finding the right place to start. Hopefully this forum will provide the right information  :)
I've heard that Frenchman's Bar would be a good place to start with my Kayak, so I'm thinking about going up there and checking it out later today.

Can't wait to get to know everyone,
Cole

Frenchman's Bar is a plunking location.  You'll have to either troll the deep water or contend with a bunch of gear cast out from the bank.
Try Davis Bar.  There's a parking lot and short trail right down to the trolling lanes.  Davis is exactly opposite where the Willamette dumps into the Columbia.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain
