With limited space for all my equipment the ceiling pulley system works great. Below the yak is my workout equipment with enough room to stand below the kayak. Fishing poles on the walls and such.

I warped one of my kayaks by leaving it on a cart for a week in hot weather inside a metal barn while I went on a trip. It was not supported by a box in the front as you described, though. The weather had been 90 + degrees so probably another 15-20 degrees inside. It took a lot of effort to mostly straighten it back out so I now would never do that again.Better to just set it on the floor.  I now use some "J" racks I bought and rotate the way the kayaks hang on the wall after each use. I am making some plywood  "J" racks out of 1 1/8 inch decking for our south coast fleet to save a few bucks.

Just built this the other day, kayak/paddle board on one side, the other side used for hanging dry suit/life jacket etc. on 4" wheels so I can easily move it around the garage.

I store my Outback on it's side on a dolly that has a couple of caster wheels on it. It's easy to roll it out of the garage for loading and cleaning, and doesn't take up much room. I have had the yak set up like this for 3 years now, with very little flattening on the side of the Outback. When I first thought about doing it this way, I contacted Hobie, and they said it was fine.

When you're too impatient to wait a month for your kayaks.... When in doubt, Put them in a 750 sgft apartment!

These are all great! How wide and tall are the HF stands? They look great! Maybe get 2 one for the front one for the rear? My yak is 36" wide it's the lure 13.5.

As long as it's a cart with a cradle, not posts through the scuppers, I think you're fine.

My Talic seahorse stand just arrived and I'm using that for my Outback. Mrs. P's Tarpon 10 is hanging from one of those pully system deals.

I'm still debating on how to store my kayak!! 😩 It ways 95lbs so turning it on its side or upside down is a pain! Plus lifting it on the wall sideways is damn near impossible. So how did the talics work out? I want to leave my kayak stored right side up and not worry about anything like warping and also have it ready to be loaded and go fishing. Any thoughts anyone?

Don't store it right side up - that's a common thread in all these answers.  The most rigid and supportive area of a kayak is the top rail.

Store it upside down with the weight on the top rails.

The second most rigid area is on it's side, and you've seen a lot of photos of racks where the kayak is on it's side.

If you don't have the space to store it upside down, store it on it's side again using the side rails to support the weight.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Design your rack so you can put the boat on right side up and then simply roll it over, stand it on its side , slide and lay it on its rails.  They flip really easy on aluminum or something topped with PVC or hard plastic.

Also remember unless your a/c blows into the garage it will get hot in there in the summer months.

So is something like the talic portable stand not something good to store on right side up? Also hoisting right side up not good?

I read on the hobie site it said if stored right side up use something to contour to the hull... Is there anyway to do this safely? I live in a rental so don't want to do anything to the garage walls, so it will have to be like suspenz free standing rack but 400$? 😩

Could I just build something small like how this bottom kayak is sitting on its side? Using foam blocks and leaned up against a wall? Or should I use nylon straps instead of foam blocks?

You can use two saw horses with two straps keeping them from sliding apart. You can make a short box out of 4x4's on the floor and slide it on and roll it over. Just depends on how much of a foot print you want it to take up. In the picture it looks like your giving it its own parking space?

Well I kinda meant how the very bottom kayak is on the floor just on foam blocks on its side... Could I do that same thing? Just some foam blocks on some 2x4 on the floor laying up against the wall? So it would be sideways, I wouldn't have to lift it high up in the air and out of the way to park our cars back in the garage?
