Just a head's up - Amazon has these expandable, floating bump boards back in stock for $13. I have a couple of measuring devices and I like this one the best. It's $13 shipped if you have Prime.

Just take a Sharpie to it and this will work great for AOTY!

Of course I notice this right after I make my purchase from AK for the Hawg trough... Oh well I am sure it will be just fine.

That will work great too.

I don't want an expandable fish measuring board, I want a contractable board.  A board which will, for example, measure a 20 inch fish as being 27 inches long.  Now that would be a measuring device worth buying!

Those are on Amazon Prime also... right next to the fish stretchers and little hands.

Nice find.  I started using that model for 2013 AOTY and really like it. Great price BTW.

I'm currently on my second one.  A few  tips to get the most durability out of them.

1.  Be gentle when you extend or retract the board, the small tabs it slides on are a little fragile.

2.   Make sure there is something supporting the center joint when you are measuring a long and heavy fish.

3.  Consider mounting it in the extended position on a 1 x 6,  I did and it's working great.

X2 on the sharpie.

Great suggestions, snopro! I have partially busted mine (3 years of use so far) due to trying to force it closed too quickly.

You need to learn the Longarm technique for your photos.

I have used a black sharpie to mark the gunwale on my Revo. Ling, sturgeon, salmon all have their legal limits marked on the yak. No need to carry extra gear.

When the regulations change a few swipes with a blue/yellow sponge scrubby and it's clean.

I have been doing the same for years. Keepin' It Simple (not) Stupid.

No worry about dropping it, losing it or leaving it at home.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

That works well.  I do the same when I need to exceed a specific length for an upgrade and plan on retention, but want to keep gear at a minimum.

I think the OP is geared towards people fishing in contests requiring a clear accurate photo measurement like AOTY.
