I am going to try and hit it.  The wishful plan is to hit it at first light Saturday and make a long day of it.  Weather or my body not coopoerating could put a damper into that plan.

Low tide is around 9:30 so current won't turn North fast till noon-ish.  The more likely scenario is launching closer to 9am.  I want to set up and try pretty hard for some decent video footage.

Tidal swing last weekend was about 10', and I clocked currents at up to 1.5 kts on the chartplotter.  Does anybody know how fast the currents move off of WG with a 20' tide swing?

I think we're going to hit Tillamook Bay Saturday morning  ;D you didn't specify an exact distance from Alaska now did ya. But seriously I want to come up there and spend a week or two taking in the beautiful scenery as well as catch some new to me species. What's the best time of year and more importantly what's it cost to stay a week there for two adults and one grand kid( wife won't be away from him that long)   ;)

According to my Navionics app, tides of 20' wil be around 2.5 knots

I find the fishing much better on the bigger faster tides. you just need to be aware that you will drift farther.

Thanks Erick.  I was hoping somebody with Navionics would chime in.  I'm too lazy/cheap to figure out how to create and sign into my own iTunes account so I can put a $10 paid app on my company-provided iPhone.  Me and Apple products don't get along well.

Just got checked.  Doctor was sure I broke my ankle but X-rays didn't show a break.  That's good and bad I guess from a healing point of view and pain.  It's my clutch foot and my civic is a manual.  Argh....  So I decided to get a powered wheel chair...with an automatic transmission.

I still plan to run my civic until it completely dies.  It'll be a while yet before I figure out how to configure the new tackle box to the point I will use it.
