My friend in San Francisco is selling his 2015 outback and giving me first dib... if I can figure out how to ship it to AK.

I thought I would pick your brains if you know any good reputable freight forwarder and the cost to ship your kayak.

Thanks for your help.

My AI got here via Span Alaska.  They might be more of a pure freight company versus a consolidator though.

We shipped kayaks to Whitehorse for a Hess-Stewart kayak trip and to Anchorage for a McLaren/Susitna/Stephan Lake/Prairie Creek/Talkeetna kayak trip and a Happy-Squentna trip, and it was such a big hassle I decided that next time I want to go whitewater kayaking or kayak fishing in Alaska or northern Canada, I'm just going to drive there with my kayak on the roof of my vehicle.  It'll be way easier.

Someone from there will be in Oregon rigging his RV for his yak not sure that there would be room for two or where he's going afterwards.

I guess it depends on how fast you want your kayak. Your busy could drop off at ak air cargo for fast shipping. If money is an issue then I suggest piggy back off any truck going to alaska or barge service on ak marine hwy.

Getting kayaks to Alaska is both challenging and pricey.

Our last two orders from Malibu Kayaks have been delivered through SAIA. Both were LTL shipments from LA to Tacoma. At Tacoma they were consolidated on a barge and shipped to the port of Anchorage.

You can save a few bucks if you choose to pick up the kayak at the terminal rather than to have it delivered to your home or business.

We tried shipping a single kayak from LA to Anc in hopes of getting it here in time for the Sportsman Show using Alaska Air Cargo. We paid over $800 to ship it priority. It made it from LAX to SEA and sat there for 5 days before they put it on a truck and shipped it to Anc. The kayak kept getting bumped because the planes coming from SEA to ANC were always at full capacity. I would never use this service again.

A single kayak can run close to $500 shipping it ground/barge.  :o

I was afraid of this.  Well, gotta tell him to list it before I change my mind again.  As to getting a second kayak, I'm really liking the i11s... part SUP, part kayak...really digging the concept.  Hope no shark or orca decide to taste it.

i11s would be a lot cheaper to ship up here, too ;)
