Headed up to Odell Lake to troll and jig for kokanee tomorrow. Anyone have any good spots to put in or favored spots to troll and jig from kayak?
hope everyone is having a good day out there :banjo:

I have always used the launch at the Trapper Creek Campground, there is parking for the launch, might need a  Forest Service pass to park, can't remember...that west end of the lake remains fishable as the wind comes up from the west...cheers, roger

Trapper Creek campground isn't open yet - still snow and gate is locked.
Shelter Cove Resort is open -- I think you can park for free and launch your kayak right near the marina store, or you can pay $5 to launch at the boat ramp.  Very busy place, has a fish cleaning station.

Princess Creek campground is open. Requires Northwest Forest Pass for day use ($6).  Boat ramp has docks, no cleaning station.
Sunset Cove campground is further east on the lake, $6 pass for parking, has a fish cleaning station.

Last weekend we tried to launch and the wind forecast was WAY off (20mph out of the East), so I had a four hour drive and did zero fishing for kokanee.  Very sad kayaker here.  Good Luck if you go, and hopefully the wind speed stays low.  Hope to hear your successful report when you get back!

A popular spot for jigging is near the rock slide on the west end of the lake.  Typically the west end is more protected from the wind and more fish congregate there early season.  If it's windy and blowing from the east, you may need to fish from Sunset Cove and go straight across the lake.  Also, look for a bright green Lucky Duck boat - he's a guide up there and usually has a pile of fish from jigging.

There is nice honey hole just out from the boat ramp on Hwy58, you usually will see boats anchored up if the fishing is good, just drop your buzz bombs there and jig. If its slow, you can troll a wedding ring with corn and a worm. I have been very successful up there trolling the smaller flashlights made by Macs Lures with a wedding ring behind it. Don't forget the rubber snubbers either, the kokes mouths are very soft. If you going to be up there all day Friday the 27th I can try and come fish with you for the day.

Firefly, I will be heading home on Friday, but will be fishing Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I will arrive Monday afternoon, and may try fishing then if the wind lets me. Anyone is more than welcome to join me. I have both jigs and trolling gear so will be trying both methods. I will be in space 5 at Shelter Cove, right behind the store. I have never been there before so hopefully there will be an easy place to launch. The lady that I talked to when I made reservations didn't think I would have any problems with that.

Early in the season I have done really well trolling and casting pink buzz bombs at first and last light, out in front of trapper creek/shelter cove.   Good luck out there.
