Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on this Adventure for sale.  The guy (2nd owner) tells me its about 5 years old? Looks to be in good condition.

I remember hearing about some issues with cracks near the drive, but not sure about specific model years.

Any help is appreciated.

The Adventure preceded, and was replaced by the Revolution.

We have a member who uses an Adventure and that's the person who would know about any problem areas with the hull.

Ask the guy for the serial number if you want the exact age of the boat.  Seems a tad bit spendy to me, but that's just my personal opinion.

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Thanks, tinker.  I'm just trying to see if anybody knows the actual year when Hobie reinforced the area under the drive well solving the cracking problems that were somewhat common on the Adventure.  Reading the Hobie forum is tiresome!  Come on Hobie people!

Price opinions are welcome, but it's about half of what a revo 16 costs these days.  And it's got the sail kit.

i'm pretty sure it was '08, but call hobie for verification if you want. they're pretty responsive and usually happy to chat.

i've got an addy ('06 model, i believe), bought used, it's been good to me so far (knock on wood).

i spent a ton of time on the phone with hobie before making the investment, and left the conversation pretty confident in my decision to by "old and used", for the following reasons:
-i was told that the defective non-reinforced ones made up about 5% of those coming off the line.
-the defective non-reinforced ones will have, by and large, already fallen apart,
-a thorough inspection with flashlight/compressed air+soap will reveal those with hairline cracks (or lack thereof).
-older = more brittle, but merely looking at the kayak for signs of abuse and sun-fading will tell how roughly how brittle the plastic is. A beat-up and faded '12 will be more brittle than a well-maintained an '07or whenever.

Thanks! Great info.  Glad to hear your addy has held up.

I have a 2012 Adventure that's still going strong.  No cracks or leaks.  If I was to buy a used one I'd limit my search to the V2 drive or newer.

If it is only 5 years old I doubt it lasts long at that price.

Do you know what year the v2 drive started on adventures?  And, can I use a drive from a 2015 oasis on a roughly 5 years old addy? Thx again.

Yes, the new drives are compatible with a slight but easy modification. You have to hacksaw off two little plastic tabs on the drive to make it work. Very simple though and takes 30 seconds.
