Every year on the Fish Washington Free Weekend our church has a "Family Fishing Day" .  We gather together and bring all manner of things that float (Wavewalks did most of the fishing) and take all who would like to come fishing.  We have a picnic potluck at 1pm.  This year we went to Lake Devereaux.  There were a bunch of little fishermen that got to catch their first fish ever!  I got to be the one that helped them.  Since there is no real shore fishing, I would take them out in the W700 and once the fish was hooked up let them reel it in.  When they caught one fish I would bring them back and get the next kido.   The stocked trout were plentiful and willing and the kids had a blast.  Here are a couple of favorite pictures of the day.  You can see all the pictures here : https://www.facebook.com/wellspringfellowshipGH/photos/?tab=album&album_id=10153654275936961

What an awesome day for you and the kids.  That excitement level is pretty fun to be around.

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

That is an awesome thing you are a part of!! I know how frustrating it can be at times to get kids fishing, but you're helping them make memories that will last a lifetime!

Thanks!  It is definitely on of my favorite events of the year. The adults that don't go fishing enjoy themselves as well!

There are a lot of people who did not grow up fishing and so this might be their first and only introduction to fishing.   I think the fish WA free day is an excellent program and well worth it. The redhead in curls and the blue and yellow life jacket is my granddaughter. :)

That's awesome to see the kids having so much fun but please if those fish are being released teach the kids not to stab a finger thru the gills, that's sure death for a fish
