I watched shark week last night so I was ready to get artacked by a massive shark. Instead I got an easy surf launch and then terrible ocean conditions. I drove all the way there and it wasnt unsafe just uncomfortable so i figured i would give it a shot. I was targeting lings. I brought a decent keeper up but it must have piggybacked on a black and let go just out of my nets reach. I caught two other smaller ling and 5 blacks. There were only 3 dory boats and one local kayaker that just went out to drop crab pots and came back. He said he was surprised to see me out there. I only stayed for 2.5 hours as the swell was around 5 feet with only a few seconds between and some were whitecapping. I took dramamine but i think it can only do so much when its that rough. On the way out, i trolled a bit for salmon but didnt get a bite. I suspect its a bit early yet.

Saw you heading out just as I got to the beach. Glad you got into some fish. I sipped my Stimulus coffee and watched you as you headed NW.

FWIW, your safety flag stood out (very visible) until you went past the buoy. Both the dory guys that went out just before me solo launched. Quite an art to that.
