I'm hoping to get this thing to two events a month one Saturday and one Wednesday but we're in our infancy so give us some time and some help with volunteering  ;D

I really don't have experience setting any of this up but I am more than willing to help. Feel free to pm if you need a portlander to help fill positions or get stuff started.

I'm proud to announce that even though the ink isn't dry on our paperwork for the new chapter that the port of Garibaldi as well as the Tillamook county parks department have stepped up to sponsor in any way they can. And I'll be meeting with the Tillamook Vetrans Of Foreign Wars tomorrow at 1800, and I have already had several conversations with local Vetrans advocates and I'm certain that this is going to go from getting off the ground to soaring like an F-16 in a short time.

Excellent, Mojo.  Congratulations to you and to hdwipmonkey and yakbass and all who stepped up to lend you a hand.  Well done!

This may sound trite, but it's been bouncing around in my head for a while.

I was recently explaining the whole Heroes On The Water thing, and the TBMD event and showing off my event shirt. And it struck me.

Who are these heroes ?

They are our veterans and our first responders, of course. That much is crystal clear, as is the debt we owe them. But there are others.

Shannon is a hero. For volunteering in the events. And for creating his benefit events. And for going even further to be an event and chapter organizer.

His work and his commitment and his selflessness is an inspiration, and we should all do whatever we can to support him.

I couldn't agree more! But then I have only know Shannon for about four months now so I have no idea what he turns into in winter when he can't go kayaking?
