You're willing to fish the Sandy but not Pac City?  What's up with that?  The marine forecast isn't as bad as it was a couple days go and you can always fish a nearby tidewater for salmon.

girlz,  would love to see you come.  We've had a few cancellations in the past few days and numbers aren't expected to be stellar.  Still not too bad, but good turnout for the current events ensures we get good schwag at future events.  If anyone is still on the fence about coming, things are looking great weather-wise and you have a good chance of going home with some great prizes.  That and we have a great group of people attending at it should be a good time for all.

Just sent out a begging email to my fellow directors for coverage!!! I really want to come fish and learn from the Jedi masters!!! ;)  However I was chicken about installing my FF and didn't get it installed, will I really need to have one?   ???

Nope.. I won the first kayak rockfish fishing tournament I ever entered and didn't have a fish finder at the time.  When in doubt, just shadow someone who does have one.

Also, you could jus bring your fish finder and installation stuff.  If you show up Friday night maybe you can get one of the "Jedi masters" to help you install it.

I'll bring the drill, some nuts and bolts, and some goop.  Jedi master Brian can do the install!!!

Fish finders are luxury items.  They're not fishing gear.  If you pay attention to what's going on around you and how much line is stripping out on the drop, you'll do fine.

Like Brian says, follow someone who has one.  I think you'll have your choice of people to shadow.  (Except for Z- with his 20mph turbo fins)

NOBODY WILL SHADOW ME... HA HA HA HA!!! :angry4:

Nah, no worries. Although you can go without a ff like the others said, it helped me learn a lot about rockfishing. It's not exactly essential but for me personally.. it is. It really can help you get a lot more fish in the yak and is really fun getting an idea of what's going on down there.

Well, if your following someone with a finder, sounds kinda essential...

I agree with Z, i think of my finder as an important tool for fishing, just takes alot of guess work out of it. And the map/gps feature on my FF is really cool, find some nice structure and you can mark a waypoint and set an alarm that sounds when you get near it, great for when you drift off the spot. I got about 6 nice hot spots at Sunset marked on it, very handy.

Really cuts down on snagging bottom when trolling also and when the depth changes you can adjust you depth of troll to suit.

That being said, you don't really need a FF, but you want one...
See ya on the water..
