SOLD for $3,500. In case you wondering what the going rate is!

Hobie Adventure Island with Mirage Drive.
-The ultimate fishing kayak setup.

Inquires:
hobiefishkayak4sale@gmail.com

The Adventure Island is a trimaran sailing kayak. It uses Hobie's Mirage Drive peddle power propulsion which enables to you to use your feet to peddle instead of your arms to paddle. It addition to paddling and peddling, you can also sail. It's completely configurable, so you can use it just as a kayak, with one outrigger, or with the sail and everything together.

I have this baby rigged for the ultimate fish killing machine.

Why I love my kayak:
-Peddle drive is much better than paddling because your leg muscles are stronger than your arms. You can go much longer distances and at a higher speed than paddling.
-Using your feet to peddle leaves your arms free for fishing.
-Double your power, peddle and paddle at the same time.
-Usually kayakers fear the wind, not anymore, unfurl the sail and the wind is now your friend! Time to stretch your legs and relax while clipping along at 5-15 knots.
-Total peace and quiet. No motor, no noise. Awesome.
-Fits on the top of your car. No trailer or moorage required.
-Lots of room for gear, crab traps, cooler, etc.
-Total freedom. Launch and fish anywhere.

You can rig this boat several different ways to suit your outing.
#1 - Use just the hull and the mirage drive for peddle powered Kayak fishing. Your hands are free to fish while your legs do the work. I love doing this at Ambleside and jigging for Coho. Slaughterfest.
#2 - Use one or both of the outriggers for extra stability, allowing you to stand up. This is great for fly fishing or casting lures on lakes or in the salt.
#3 - Use the downrigger and do some trolling! I've built a custom downrigger mount for one of the outriggers.
#4 - Use the sail and sit back and relax while the wind does the work. Great for high speeds and covering long distances. Sailing and fishing with the downrigger is absolutely deadly, get deep and move fast.

Why are you selling such an awesome setup??
-Sadly, we're moving overseas for work in December. The wife's company is transferring her back to the motherland.

Local dealer is selling the base model for $4,599 USD plus tax. To buy new, you'll also have to buy the following add-ons:
-Wheel cart $170
-Trampoline kit $400 (canvas part between outriggers so you can sit, stand, store gear, etc.)
-Foam blocks $30 (for the roof rack)
-Tie down straps: $20

So all in you're looking at $5,220 plus tax.

I'm asking for $4,200 USD OBO for the boat and all add-ons above.

I also have the following fishing gear to go with it:
-Lowrance Elite 4 Fish Finder with Navionics+ Gold map for Canada and USA.
-Rechargable 12v lithium battery. Very light and lasts forever. Includes waterproof case and sealed cabling for the kayak.
-Manual downrigger & custom built mount. Uses 250lb braided line for reduced drag resistance.
-7lb downrigger ball.

Asking $400 for all the fish gear.

So $4,600 USD cash will get you the complete package.

Contact me here: hobiefishkayak4sale@gmail.com

I've spent many hours over the last few years researching and designing the setups for all these gears with lots of tests and experiments. Just recently I've got it all perfected. It's all ready to go for you, put it in the water and start fishing.

Attached are some images showing it in action:
-Rigged in kayak mode with a cooler full of Coho. Fish finder shot shows a mad school of coho off the bottom, and one coho from said school in my lap.
-Other shots show it rigged with the sail and both outriggers. I only have one of the canvas trampolines on in the photo, however both are available to use. You can see the downrigger mounted on one of the outriggers. This setup pulled netted a 14lb Chinook last week.

If this ad is up, yes it is still for sale. I'm not moving out of the country until December. Lots of time to sell.

I would love to have an AI, but now is just not the time. That's not relevant, though - what I want to mention is that I just saw that the initial Race to Alaska (R2AK 2015) had an entrant who piloted a Hobie Adventure Island and finished. The R2AK is a race for non-motorized vessels, that starts in Pt. Townsend and finishes in Ketchikan (that's 750 miles). The basic rule is no motors and no outside support allowed. You can stop wherever and use whatever commercial facilities you want, just no support boats or caches of food and/or supplies. The guy in the AI holds the single-handed record at 13 days, 1 hour, 10 minutes.

Note: the boat pictured is what Roger used in 2016. In 2015, he used a (mostly) stock AI.
