Just a small fishing Report-
A buddy and I hit up the willamette slough over by the wheelboat in downtown salem.
We were on the water by 7am but had a slow morning fishing. We ended up catching 2 smallmouth near where the river meets the slough and then a largemouth over near the calmer flatwater before leaving around 11am

We got to see a bald eagle and an osprey dive and retrieve a nice fish out of the slough

Yes I caught that on my daughters frozen rod ;)

Looks like you had a good day!  That dog cracks me up for some reason, does he like fishing with you?

Nice job on the bass! Good to know some places near Salem - I might have to take up bass fishing just so I have some closer fishing options.

Photo bombed by the dog. Funny expression.

I don't take him out every trip but he does seem to enjoy the ride...

The slough has slim picking at times BUT cruising around in the water is always fun.
The water levels at the slough have gone down so we weren't able to go across under the mill creek bridge to the backwater area. Ive seem some decent Bass caught back there also.

If you go up to the rock pile in the middle of the slough farther in about the second week of April in years the water isn't too high you can catch them every cast! Nice 2-3 pound fish
