Hi Showa. I use usual soft plastics like zoom, big baits, berkley, etc. and it works perfect

Really had to beat these in 3" either white or chart. Also, I've found fishing them on a dropshot with a #2 hook about 12-18" up from your weight works better than a jig on the bottom.

I tried those without a single nibble up at Kayak Point last month, on a dropshot rig.  No flounder on them yesterday, either, but the dogfish liked 'em :)

If that's the case, there were no flounder around [emoji12].

Question, do dropshot rigs violate the anti-snag regulations, or are those only if you're looking for salmon?

Yes it is allowed for all saltwater fish I think.  It just holds your jig off the bottom more where the flounder can see it.  The dropper weight is what is bouncing the sand, and your presentation is swimming 18" or so above it.
My body thinks my brain's gone crazy.

Anti-Snagging Rule

Except when fishing with
a buoyant lure (with no weights added to the
line or lure), or trolling from a vessel or floating
device, terminal fishing gear is restricted to a
lure or bait with one single-point hook. Hooks
must measure ¾" or less from point to shank,
and must be attached to or below the lure or
bait. Weights may not be attached below or less
than 12" above the lure or bait

pg. 10 WDFW fishing regs

It appears that dropshot rigs as described in this thread are not legal in anti-snag rule areas. WA regulations especially in the Puget Sound are complicated and one might even say onerous but it is what it is.

Ok, then acc. to this description, usual jigheads are also not allowed in anti-snag areas?

According to my reading of the regs, jigheads are indeed allowed as long as they measure 3/4" or less from hook to shank. There are no weights attached and it has a single hook.

In addition check out these examples on page 12:

In jig head weight is attached directly to hook! It just looks weird that weight is not allowed to be added to line or lire, but allowed to hook?

Hmm.  What I had rigged up is apparently not a "dropshot" rig according to those pics and descriptions...  I had a jig head hook, 1/3 oz, at the end of the line.  About a foot above that was a dropper loop with a single unweighted hook.  A gulp swimming mullet on each hook.  Nothing else.  Damned if I know what to call it now!  :-)

Thanks. The rule is written in a very confusing way. To me it seems like this rule bans a lot of normal bottom fish rigging, and makes jigs questionable. :-/

Hrm.. double-checked. Looks like for the most part, marine areas are clear, so dropshotting is OK. There are some exceptions like the Duwamish river and some parts of MA13.
