Sometimes things don't start out right, but they turn out great.

Windy surf launches are usually not fun, they get even worse  when you're half way through the launch and reach for your paddle to use as a brace and realize it's 3 hours away, in your garage.  But it's cool, you make it out, then Ravdakot tells you "hey a 5 foot shark jumped out of the water right behind you just now".  Awesome, this day is getting turning out great.  Which reminds me, if you want to see how fast you can really peddle a hobie, do a surf landing without your paddle.   (Yeah, I didn't get rolled, so the day turned out great!)

But back to the fishing...  There was bait EVERYWHERE.  So much bait that the birds were taking breaks.  There were whales everywhere, and even a few salmon to take home.  As soon as I landed my first fish of the day, the wind died and the pacific nurtured my soul.

then Ravdakot tells you "hey a 5 foot shark jumped out of the water right behind you just now".

Or the fisher person formerly known as Ravdakot  :P

Great video! It is fun when you get in the middle of a lot of action. I love it when whales surface nearby...

Thanks for sharing that awesome video Lee. Very cool. Nice and easy net job on that salmon. Ya' did good.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Ya hit the Sweeeeeet spot.       Nice going.

I'm headed up to Bellingham for this entire week.     Picking up kayaks for Santa Cruz Kayaks
I'm hoping to get a chance to fish up there somewhere.
If an opportunity arises...  Please PM me.

Thanks Jim

Great video.  Nothing gets me more excited for a day on the water than seeing bird work bait.

Setup for this and generally works in CR too.

I keep a few spares fully rigged in Ziploc bags when I'm on the ocean.  Helps keep lunch from coming back!

Lee, is there any particular element that causes you to choose divers or lead on a given day? (Suspended fish, big exchange, uphill vs downhill troll, etc...)

No, I'll generally be with one or two others and all run slightly different setups. Whatever gets hit is what we switch to, but most of the time, everything gets some action.  That said, I've never had any luck with this rig in the Puget Sound.  B10 and open ocean gets it done.
