Got rid of the Zooka Tube holders and went to the Folbe on a detachable tray I can modify as needed(thanks of the ideas Low-Sky, Rudy and bloggers). What a difference. The rectangular hatch was also a worthwhile modification.
Still working the bugs out of my downrigger setup before I mount it.

Turned out great, I've been looking for some ideas for my outback as well. Is there an insert that goes into the rectangular hatch or does it just open up to the hull? If you get a chance could you post a picture from
bow to stern? Nice job

I noticed that you put your hatch length wise instead of width, was there a reason in particular? I'm going to do mine this weekend but was going to do it facing me width wise.  Nice Job on it.

I put the rectangular hatch in my outback this year.  Best upgrade I have done.  I did mine perpendicular to the hull with the opening towards me.  There are two types of accessories that can go in the hatch that I know of.  One is a plano box holder and the other is a drop in bucket.  I got the bucket and love it.  I can hold most of the gear I need for a day of fishing where it is very handy.  If you dont get the accessory, it open to the hull.

The install is easy and mine has been water tight and opens much easier than the round hatches.

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

My wife has the Outback LE module with the hatch opening towards the seat as Nobaddays has set up. Trialing both styles I'm glad I went parallel to the hull because it's easier access while I'm pedaling. I have the drop bucket in one kayak and the Plano try in another. On my Kayak I have the rest of the open hull blocked with 2" foam replacing the foam blocks (same type material). Just had to cut around the rudder cables as I found them to pinch of the rudder cables.
Modify, fish and adjust-- it's a continuing obsession.
