The subject line was not meant to disparage Homer.

I had to make a quick trip to Homer this afternoon for work. When I was finished  (right around 4)  I went out to the end of the spit to see what was happening. It seems there are silvers in the fishing hole. There also must be some action on the outside. There were 10 or 12 powerboats trolling between Land's End and the green can. I watched for a few minute, but wasn't able to see anything.

On the way home I went to the beach at Whiskey Gulch. The water looked great. A little surf, but not bad. A couple drift boats were just coming in. I asked about fishing. They said a little slow, but also said they hadn't caught any dogfish. Timing of the tides isn't great right now.

I just thought I'd pass along my observations. Now you understand the subject line...for what its worth.

BTW - As I was heading north from WG, I'm pretty sure I saw Rudy and Ryu heading south. I didn't look closely (wasn't paying attention soon enough) but the truck and boats were right. Maybe we can get another report from them.

6 take downs, 3 kings landed.  I'd guess 12 pound average.  all caught between 9:30 and 10:15pm in front of the condos in Homer.

20 to 30 ft of water, right on top...green label herring. Fish were loaded with sandlances

humpback were putting on a show, breaching completely out of the water with multiple fin slaps

Sounds like a fun day. Get any closer to the Humpback's then we did last October. Kind of toe tingling when the water swell moves you sideways to the current.

Fished it Sunday morning. Fished from about 8:30 till 10:30. One small feeder king and one nice coho. The first fish (coho) happened at about 9:30. King at a little after 10. Tide was at about 6:00.  A good day.
