I have been asked by the Kachemak Bay Water Trail Committee and the "Friends of Kachemak Bay State Park" to do a seminar on Kayak fishing Kachemak Bay.  It's a fund raiser for them so a small donation will be requested.

When: Saturday September 17th.  6pm to 9pm.
Where: Lands End Hotel

On Sunday we will follow it up with some fishing if the weather allows.  I wouldn't mind a few veterans coming down to keep an eye out on the newer folks and help where we can.

I will have more details but I think for hose of us living outside of the area, we are going to learn just as much as anything I say from the locals who may turn out for this.

It will mainly be about salmon, but we will cover halibut and the other species like pollock as well.  I will post more details as I get them!  Help a brother out!  Come on down!!!!

If this works with my schedule, I can come down and help supervise pups. I probably won't know for a week or two.

Not sure if I'm a veteran or a pup. That sounds like fun. Going to try to hit WG tomorrow (Saturday). Might be nice to go back to the Spit next weekend.

This looks like the opportunity I have been looking for. I can be the noobie for the event.  Can you pass or post additional details?

Great.  I sure will when I get them.  but for now what I have posted is what I know.  A small donation for the kachemak bay water trail committee and Friends of Kachemak Bay is requested.  I'm 100% volunteering my time and all expenses

I'd be interested in any new information that you pick up.
I contacted Ashore Water Taxi  http://www.homerwatertaxi.com
And as expected they gave great info confirming my plans of focusing on Eldred Passage and China Poot Bay for the off season.
Here's the snag though. I haven't found a rental in that area for  October 22nd-26th (those that I've contacted close after September 15th).
If you hear anything I would be interested.
My first plan was to get as close to those locations to put 2 days or more fishing/scouting in both.
Back up right now is state cabins wich are a ways away from the fishing zone.
Any info or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Just got some good info. Alaska Yurt Rentals is keeping 4 yurts open during the winter season so  I have an option.
Original plan was yert for two days then move to another location in the area of Eldred Passage and China Poot Bay.

Team Clark decided we're going to attend, only we'll be there in the "noob" capacity.  How do we give a donation, and how much is considered acceptable?

It's suggested donation of $50 for both days, the seminar and on the water guidance.  But I think its just a suggested amount.  I am going to try and make it more worthwhile by getting some gear donations to pass out.

I won't be able to help out with this, Rudy.  Gotta make a last minute trip to Florida.  Good luck with the seminar, I hope everybody has a fun, safe time on the water Sunday!
