Does anyone surf launch at or near seal rock? I used to fish with a guy that knew the area really well. Fished out of a fiberglass outboard 20' boat. One day it was flat calm. We went right near the exposed rocks. We drifted over a dome that was 13' deep...in around 40' of surrounding water. You could see the top of the dome as we drifted over. Each pass we connected with fish. Limited out in a half hour. I'd love to fish that again from a kayak, but it's a long run from the entrance to Yaquina bay.

I tried to launch at the foot of Quail Street once a long time ago and got my ass handed to me in the surf. It's pretty exposed and can be tough to find a rip to ride out. Also there's a nice smattering of rocks on the beach for the waves to toss your kayak into once you are knocked out of the driver's seat.

If you pick a better day than I did it is probably pretty fishy.

Like LB said at the end of qual street there is access to the the reef.  I've fished it a couple of times and it's nice fishing out there.  The launch and landing can be sporty though.   I went out once at high tide and came back in at low tide and the surf had picked up considerably to make it a sporty ride in.
