Trustworthy hardware in Soldotna has green, blue, red, and I believe purple label for just over 6 bucks it's the cheapest I can find on the peninsula sportsman's is 9 bucks and it seems like the bait is not in near as good shape I bought 4 packs from trusty last night to soak in the brine all 4 packs were good firm bait

plus one...I agree.  if you don't brine the bait, make sure you punch a small hole to eliminate the vacuum before thawing then out.

What do you brine the bait with? And what's the purpose? Extra stink or does it help it hold together better?

I use brines off the salmon university website it makes the bait tougher and you can re freeze it there is a ton of commercial brines the only one I don't recommend is the fire brine not sure why but it doesn't get they bait the way I like it and as far as scent goes it's pretty much anything you wanna do with it i usually just dope it up with herring oil but have used garlic and sugar all kinds of stuff

Thanks for the tip. Time to resupply for winter trolling. I know last year I had trouble finding good bait sometimes.
