I know there is a thread on this subject but its 3 yo and products change. So, I'm planing on getting a radio for inland kayaking and would like to lean on the experience of members as to what options are best while still not overly expensive. Also pros and cons for VHS vs VHF/GMRS. I dont own or want a cell phone. Call me old fashioned or maybe cheap But.....
Thanks

Having more choices is always a plus, so the combo has that advantage. GMRS requires registration with the FCC to operate on the freqs. maybe a con to the combo choice.  Do you have anyone that will be on the receiving end of GMRS transmissions you would send?

Not at this time as my budget only allows for a purchase of one.
