I use the mako saddles on a revolution, they work ok.  Not sure how different the outback hull is compared to a revo.

Picked up a set of 4 for $30.  If they don't fit I'm sure I can get my money back out of em

Absolutely yes......I used the Mako saddles on my 2010 Hobie Outback, mounted on my 2007 Subaru Outback. They conform nicely to the hull shape when strapped down.
I used the Yakima rail grab 4 pack, Yakima 48" cross bars and the Yakima Showboat to protect the rear hatch spoiler from damage. The Showboat roller makes loading a breeze!
