Hey just wanted to see if any fellow NWKAers are going to the OKBF event at Galesville? Actually I know a couple of you are, but I'm terrible at matching screen names to real people.

I'm trying to decide between a motel and the campground, might wait to see what the weather does. What's everyone doing?

Don't forget registration closes March 11 at midnight if you're still on the fence (you can pay up the day of if you message Aaron the organizer).

I am planning on going as well, looks like the campground still has a few spots available but I am hesitant as well with the weather as temperamental as it has been. It's too far away to drive the morning of (without leaving at 2 or 3am) so I am of the same line of thinking... A bad night's rest getting in late to the campground doesn't sound great either... Thinking a hotel may be the best option.

I'm planning on going.  May or may not prefish, may or may not camp.  It's only an hour and a half or so drive so I could go either way, but I'm leaning toward prefish and camp.

I was considering sleeping in the back of my car as well but will probably wuss out and get a hotel. If we were doing anything else at the campground (launching, weigh-in, etc.) it would seem like a good idea but since nothing's going on there a hotel seems worth it maybe.

I'm just looking forward to seeing some water that doesn't look like chocolate milk!

I definitely wouldn't mind sharing a hotel room with someone if you're up for it to split costs.

Sounds like you got the info, but Oregon Kayak Bass Fishing is having their first event of the year at Galesville March 25. If we have the number of competitors it looks like we're going to have the top payout will be over $200. I'm mostly interested in the charity tournaments but I've had the chance to talk to Aaron (the organizer) a few times and he's a great guy and I think he's putting together a fun circuit this year.

Hey Lauren thanks for the mention! As of right now we have 21 anglers signed up for Galesville, which knocks us up into the next payout structure (21-40) which now pays out 6 anglers instead of just 4. Attached is the payout breakdown for the current 21 angler amount. ON TOP of this cash payout there will be a bunch of prizes given away or raffled off at random, so everyone who enters has a chance to walk away from the event with some GREAT prizes. Below is a list of stuff we are giving away... although I am probably forgetting something!  I look forward to meeting and fishing with each of you!

Prizes Going to "Placements" (like 1st-6th place):
Gift Certificates from Waxers Surf and Skate (like $350 worth)
Next Adventure gift certificates (unsure on value yet)
Boca Bearing Upgrades (2) from Justin's Reel Service (over $100 Value)
Custom Built rod (prebuilt) from Sixes River Rods (over $200 value)
Fish Grips
Hoo Rags
Culprit Baits
YakAttack Accessories
Venom Lures Gift Cert ($25 off $50 purchase)
Sportsmans Warehouse Gift Card ($50 value)

Prizes being raffled off to competitors (for free, no extra purchase):
BooneDOX T-Bar ($190 value)
Manley Rod (choose cert or take home the "display" model) ($130 value gold series kayak model)
Anchor Wizard kit ($150 Value)
Fish Grips
Hoo Rags
River2Sea Baits
Railblaza Stow and Dry Bag (everyone gets one of these)
WOO! Tungsten weights pack

AND the Angler of The Year Prize is looking pretty awesome as well!
Wilderness Systems Radar 112/135 Kayak
Power Pole Micro System w/Spike
Tons of Baits
A few Fishing Rods
Anchor Wizard System
and much much more is being added throughout the year!

I registered for this yesterday. Thanks for posting about this, I never would have known about it otherwise! I'll probably head down that Friday after work and sleep in my car. If work is slow enough that week I'll go Thursday night to try finding where the fish are before the day of. I've never been there before. It's most likely that I'll just head down Friday night and wing it on Saturday. If anyone is familiar with the area and has any suggestions about a somewhat safe place to park Friday night that'd be great! I'm excited to fish around other people! My last three fishing trips have been solo.

Awesome!! Good to hear you're coming Casey!!! I booked Campsite 17 for Friday night and you're welcome to park there or pitch a tent or whatever. I am not sure if they charge extra for additional vehicles or tents, but we can work that out if so.

That's nice of you! I don't think I want to put in the effort of setting up a tent after the workday and drive, but I wouldn't mind paying to park there to sleep in my car, that's great. I'll gladly pitch in rather they charge extra or not. Thanks!
