Fishing Potholes for bass

Hey all,

A couple of us are headed to Potholes in late May to chase some bass around. We've never been there and vaguely know the orientation of the lake (no major landmarks).I'm new to bass fishing so any info would be awesome. We're staying at the State Park and hopefully launching from there.

I've done some homework and found that there really isn't a time of year to fish them and it all comes down to water temp. I'm hoping Late May is a good time to be on the water on the East side, especially with the winter we've had this year.

I'm no expert on the Pot Holes, but have put in at Mar Don's and fished around the Island and surrounding rocks just exposed above the water.  Caught quite a few small bass there and along the rocks by the road to the dam.  There is a free launch (state park charges) a short distance to the east, look for Public Fishing. 
Wind can be an issue and a couple of weeks ago and got passed by a blowing tumbleweed on I-90.  I couldn't put in on the south end at all.  I've been looking at Road C NE that you can follow on Google Maps just off I-90.  That provides some options in the upper dunes where you could get out of the wind and actually looks like nice potential bass areas especially earlier in the year.  My next time back I'll also keep the option of going down Sand Dune Rd open.  It's the spillway out of Moses Lake and looks like it could provide good area and options if the wind comes up. So, some research ahead of time should provide options regardless of the weather/wind and I'd try to make sure I had some back put-in sites.  Rapala's, night crawlers, spinner baits and even some slip-bobber setups would be worth considering. The area to the east of the "?bird island" has bunches of large rocks just above water and tossing some rubber worms around those would be good thoughts.  Others report lots of perch although I didn't look for them, but they would make a great shore lunch...Have fun.
