Got a late start to the day and launched the kayak in the Tanner Creek arm around noon or so, and off the water by 18:30. Fished solo, as my only buddy with a kayak has to repair some hull damage before getting back out.

I started out with chatterbaits and the Deps 250, no followers, but I was seeing a lot of fish hugging the grass lining the shore. Eventually switched to weightless senkos and it was non-stop from there. Caught 11 cookie cutter largemouth and finally got my first solid smallmouth out of Hagg. Missed a lot of bites due to the wind making keeping contact with a weightless senko a task. All fish were caught in 2-6' of water and all bites came within feet of shoreline structure.

Water temp was around 66-67, lots of small largemouth males staging for the spawn, but I didn't see any discernable beds. Seems like the bite is picking up, good luck out there!

Side note: I used to ocean fish in San Diego from a kayak, but had a boat the past few years. I just got back into kayak fishing and I have to say, these new angler-specific kayaks are incredible! I have a new Jackson Coosa HD and the thing is crazy stable, I was catching 4.5'+ sturgeon while standing up and getting towed like I was wakeboarding.

So you're lauching in Tanner Creek? I've been launching from Ramp C and it stinks having to paddle all the way up to the North end.

Yes, I launched in Tanner Creek that day. I've been launching anywhere on the lake with a reasonable trail for my cart to get over. No need to waste time with launch ramps when you have a kayak.

If either of you ever need a fishing buddy shoot me a PM.  I'm pretty close to Hagg and I'd love to join you one of these days.  There's a lot of water to cover on that lake.
Kayaking without wearing a PFD is like drunk driving.  You can get away with it for a while, but eventually someone dies.

Well, I tried Tanner on Saturday and got skunked. Sunday went way up into Sain Creek and saw plenty of bass swimming around but they weren't interested in anything I threw at them. Maybe heavy pressure those days because of free fishing weekend got 'em spooked, or maybe I'm just lousy at fising. lol
