To all you fine gentlemen and ladies I would like to say "yello" to you all....

So a little background so you will have a small window in to my very cluttered mind and extremely convoluted way of processing information.

I will get the feel sorry for me stuff out of the way but it is part of the mind set so it will help you understand. Several years ago I ripped one knee internally almost completely apart. The surgeon was a miracle worker, but the physical therapist is no longer employed in the field. First off she had me on exercise for the hip not the knee so needless to say by the time the unemployed therapist's stupidity was discovered the damage had been done. All of this sent me into a downward spiral of depression then compounded with anxiety and my already constant headaches I have had since a kid. Needless to say I was a social (not that I was ever that social) and mental wreck...So now I am on massive amounts of pharm drugs and life was like being sucked into the mouth of a mudcat like a poor crawfish who never saw it coming.

So as a result for almost 3 years I never left the house. Well times change and alternatives became available legally and I started eliminating the pharms out of my system for one treatment option. Younger experimentation with said treatment option had shown it could help me control the headaches which was the first step. It also had another side effect it made me want to get out not really be social, but get out of the house even if it was by myself...... Now add all that age, bad joints, weight, non existent exercise regime, a high in fried and good food diet,... let's just say don't ask me to run unless it is from the cops and even then I wouldn't get very far nor care very much.... ;D

Needless to say among all that was some serious soul searching because no way was I gonna off myself of anything dumb like that. There are way too few people to have basked in my glory I could not deny those poor souls that slim chance.

One thing always seemed to rise to the top Bass fishing.

When I was younger I fished every chance I got and have tried all forms from jug lining to noodling, but from a boat after bass is always my love. Now I have been I WA. for way to long in all that time I had done very little fishing. Then a neighbor of my dad gave me a 10 foot little fiberglass dinghy and a old trolling motor. I used that boat until I had worn it out beyond repair..... It now has a place of honor in my yard as a planter. It was 3 years ago when it took that final voyage.

Soooo like every good fisherman I wanted bigger and badder.... Bass tracker here I come... Wait what do you mean I can't afford it but honey I really want it.... (Thank god she is around and my rock or I would still be trying to hide the boat from the repo guys.)

Begin downward spiral in attitude. For awhile the tractor I bought helped the attitude, but I came to realize that better power equipment means more work and the more frustration can develop. So I began a campaign of whining and complaining, maybe even a little guilt tripping to get the wife to come around to the point that I needed to go fishing again on a nice new boat. Sadly some of my finest moments of circular logic were broken upon the pillar of stone my lovely wife is and I came to realize that the tracker was still a ways off.

So back to scheming and reexamining my priorities...

I want to fish... So look for a boat to rebuild Nope no go, look for something small portable and will do the job .... Enter the YAk..... To my total surprise she was all for it and even set the day to go look at them, but sadly $500 was the top I could go to get a basic setup.

Well once we got to the destination of my choosing to look at the $299 yak I had found it became real evident the a Sit-in was not the right choice for me nor was the 10 foot SOT same price stable or very comfortable... So using my unique ability to influence people to buy stuff I started in on the wife.... I really need a 12 footer I can stand up in and they are all $600 or more honey, all the while I had my eye on the 12 foot SOT fisher for $399 and that was my goal to walk out with... needless to say I still got it or she really loves me one of the 2. I walked out with the bigger boat and the better paddle I really wanted, and she thought she did good to keep me under $650 total. I look it as I wiggled and extra $150 from the wife but we never discuss it so we are both happy....

So out I went the next day and love it..... Yes I did try to stand in it... Yes I turtled it .. No skunk is still on the boat but I was more playing with the boat than fishing.

Quickly discovered that this boat will not stay stock for long many changes to come but that will be in another thread.... I will also put all the pics and info in that thread about the boat.

I have also decided if I can ever go back in time and only remember 2 things those would be corner the market on rice and the invent small portable electronic devices. I would be bigger than Gates now. Only lost my sunglasses and 2 bungie cords the rice saved my phone and e-cig from certain death.

Have fun and see ya on the water soon....

Welcome to the "club". In your area there is some pretty good bass fishing. They are some of the lakes in the "oak patch" area near Belfair.

Most of the lakes are put and take trout lakes and very few people bother to fish for the largemouth bass and there are some pretty good ones there.

So enjoy  your new 'yak and catch some good ones.....warf

Welcome! I'm glad you found an economical solution to get out on the water. Hope to see some great bass write ups in the future. See you on the water
