Anyone running a Mokai?

I hadn't heard about these things until yesterday. Anyone seen or used one? Seems like the downside would be how they would handle if there were mechanical problems.

Looking at the speed table, I can pedal my Hobie nearly as fast.

6 grand buys a very decent lake/bay boat if I wanted a motorcraft.

There is a feller on YouTube that goes by Aquachigger that uses one to navigate up rivers to metal detect for civil war relics. 
You could maybe contact him for any specific questions you are looking into.

I was curious if Oregon would characterize it as a PWC, which would greatly limit where it could be used (lakes and some estuaries, almost no whitwater parts of any rivers)...but because you sit 'in it' (like a boat) and not 'on it' (like a jetski), the Mokai would be registered and operated as a normal motor boat in Oregon...

Man you can get your hobie going 8+ mph?? What am I doing wrong?

Yeah, my Outback regularly clocks 5.5-6 on the gps while cruising, I can pretty much keep that up for a few miles. I can sprint for a mile at 7 or a touch over and 9 for short sprints of 1/4 - 1/2 mile. I can maintain 4 all day long.

Had her up to 11.5 once but a fair bit of that was the inbound tide!

Adjust the above for wind, tide and current of course.

Interesting. I'll be honest and say I don't know exactly how fast I am moving without a GPS on my fish finder and not enough of a care to clock it myself. If I was to guesstimate it would be closer to a top speed of 5kt/mph and sustained 3.5 or so. 11.5 on an outback would be interesting to say the least.

11 has to be speed over ground at full sprint on a 5 kt current + wind and all in the same direction.

I can maintain 4.5 kt in my Revo comfortably and 6+ at a sprint. 11?  Not a chance.   

I believe the Pinstriper can toss up a rooster tail that makes the bass boat boys green with envy.   

I think the fastest I have ever gotten my Hobie Revo up to was about 78mph.   I can do 55-60mph all day long, but out in the Ozarks, I needed a running start to get up the next big hill.

Good chance it was the waterfall he went over.  I can see 11kts possible.
