Hello,

I've been reading topics here as I transition from owning a too big canoe and being a lapsed fisherman to owning a pedal kayak and getting back into fishing.

Most of the fishing I'd done for years was either lake fishing for trout or winter steelhead fishing mostly on NW Oregon's coastal streams.

A few years back I bought a canoe which was stable and large and proved to be far too heavy to roll down a path to go paddling. In recent years, my kids have firmly moved into teenager territory and have little interest in going paddling. I'd been looking around at possibly doing some paddling of smaller watercraft and started checking out kayaks.

I also have been interested in doing some more fishing, and then realized I could easily fish from a kayak.

I saw some of the posts here and then some of rogerdodger's videos and posts of fishing from a Hobie I11s and now I own a pedal drive Hobie i12s.

I went with pedal drive because of the ability to maneuver and handle a pole at once, and because I have well developed leg muscles from a lifetime of cycling.

I am interested in fishing around where I live in North Portland but also getting out to some lakes and even doing some coastal fishing. I'd like to take a course on kayaking the surf, as I have essentially no experience with that.

I'm looking forward to getting to read more of this forum.

I went pedaling around a bit more yesterday, this time trying mounting the Yak Attack Black Pac. The t fits between the gunwales just fine but I don't like the way the rod holders can push into the port gunwale. I'm going to re-position at least the rear and probably middle one to prevent this.

The arm was got for the GoPro worked fine but I had a bit of a GoPro fail as far as getting any footage. I've now gone over the procedure not while I'm the bright sun and anxious to go kayaking so I think I have it down.

I'm assuming you have seen a picture of my BlackPak configuration, I've been really happy with the Scotty rocket launchers coming forward on each side of my seat...

I just went and looked at my photo file again and realized that the photo I'd grabbed as an example of something to consider was in fact your i11s with BlackPac and Rocket Launchers. I took that to the shop when I went to buy a rod holder and picked up a different model, but I'm using the same basic principle.

I'll get things together and post some photos out in whichever is the appropriate forum.

excellent, I don't always run the rocket launcher off both sides, they work great with spinning reels but don't keep trolling reels in the correct orientation, in this image you can see I have a 'normal' rod holder on an extension in front of the GoPro and RLauncher on the other side...
