In the spirit of keeping a budget, I'm looking for a used game clip/hoop stringer. I've found some on eBay for $20, but figured it would be worth checking to see if anyone has one sitting around rusting.

Post up or PM me if you have one. Thanks NWKF!

Unfortunately, no kayak shops have them around here that I know of. You can try local dive shops, or try here: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/19597/Large-Stainless-Fish-Hoop-Stringer-with-Flat-Top-Handle-16&quot-X-75&quot.html It is significantly cheaper than ebay. I bought one from them in 2010 and it is still going strong. Or this one on Amazon with free shipping.  I have one I have used once when I took a guest out. It worked as good as the other. https://www.amazon.com/Stringer-Attaching-Speargun-Spearfishing-Freediving/dp/B0021PFK3O/ref=pd_sbs_200_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0021PFK3O&pd_rd_r=C801VHWMAHCBQWKCFJ52&pd_rd_w=jGHru&pd_rd_wg=N2vml&psc=1&refRID=C801VHWMAHCBQWKCFJ52

They sometimes have them at West Marine around the Seattle area. Might have them down there too.

Surf To Summit sells them online for a decent price. I recommend a heavy duty clip, they can wear out from all the weight of a bag limit. It's a terrible problem. I use one clip for rockfish and another for lings and cabbies.

I just purchased this 16" clip from eBay, $15.98 free shipping, to replace the one I donated to the waters of PC Thursday: http://www.ebay.com/itm/172243878058

The end is probably square so will need to grind the end round to make it easier to string the fish.

I have a couple of those clips, and they do indeed work great. But I have now switched to a cheap Costco soft sided insulated bag. Don't really need the clips anymore and can keep the fish chilled at the same time. I used to put them on the clip AND  the bag, but found there was no point in having them on a clip anymore. They go straight from lip grippers to the bag to bleed out and chill out. A better (and cheaper) option in my opinion.

Great idea.  I'm going to implement that one immediately.  It's not just the strain on the game clip itself, it's the weight of swinging the stringer from the back well into your lap every time you load a new fish on there.  Towards the end of reaching your limits, it's a pain.

I certainly hope your not complaining about that problem are ya  >:D  now try attaching your burlap sack full of crabs to that sucker and houst that into the back well... Dave had a hell of a time helping me with mine.... good problems to have though LOTS of weight to your fish stringer  ;D

I like to use the clip to let them bleed out in the water, then transfer them to the bag with ice.  Cuts down on the mess in the bag by quite a bit.  You still get the slime in the bag, but that doesn't stink as bad as the blood if you don't quite wash it all out.  Also it lets them get the death throes out while in the water so they're usually not flopping around in the bag.  Less risk of bruising the meat that way.

I carry a game clip each trip, but rarely use it (actually made my current one just for the challenge).  Mostly reserve it for that big illusive ling that will be too big to trust alone hanging off the side of the kayak via lip grippers while bleeding out.  I can see the game clip being useful for stacking flounder on, provided I figure out the magic of catching flounder in quantity in Oregon waters.

The soft insulated cooler bag with ice is where I store all my fish post bleeding rather than on a stringer.
