Pacific City was calling my name after how fun that first trip was last week, so I jumped on the nice conditions and fished on Wednesday. Easy launch at 0630 and was greeted by a few whales on the way out. It was beautifully sunny out and the wind stayed manageable all day.

I mostly focused on the deep reef during the morning and had a steady pick of black rock fish and ling on swimbaits and 3 oz lead heads. Last week I only managed one solid black rock fish and more cabazon than I could count, and today was the opposite... I couldn't find a cabazon to save my life.

Around 1030 I decided to change it up and move in and fish the rock. Good move, as I stuck a few more ling and also got my first China rockfish. Wow, talk about a cool looking fish! Hard fighter, too. Of course, my GoPro had already burned through both batteries, so only cell phone shots.

I finished the morning fishing around the inside reefs and caught a blue ling to add to another ling on the stringer. The tide turned around at 0945 but didn't seem to affect the fishing much. Off the water at 1300. I did see a couple other kayaks out there but didn't get around to saying hi.

Good luck out there if anyone launches this weekend! I'll throw some GoPro video up once I sort through all the video with a fogged up lens  ::)
