I've made a few trips out over the past week trying to take advantage of the good current during the big ebbing tides.  A couple of days I have had some action chucking flies at actively feeding coho in tight to the beach over eel grass beds.  I've probably spent the most time dragging flies with a spinner blade while look for nervous bait.  Over 5 trips I've had 2-4 hook ups per outing with about half landed.  I did stumble upon a school of very aggressive pinks a week ago but haven't seen any since (not that I miss them). The coho have been all clipped rezzies around 3-4 pounds but I have heard several larger ocean fish trickling in. A few picture from recent trips:

We had a bunch of fish today out in MA 11, in front of Gig Harbor and down to Point Evans.  A group of us, sponsored by Blake Merwin of GH Fly Shop.  Total of ten fish kept, hatchery cohos, but there several kings that got hooked then got away.

Me, I caught my first kayak salmon!  Just a smallish coho, but damn it was fun and will certainly be enjoyed as dinner.  Had three more on the hook, but they escaped, and a few small fry that gave it a try.  A damn fun day!

Junk Jigs "BEST USE OF ACTUAL JUNK" category - "That tape should have been a prized possession and not junk. That will be a collectors item in 30 years!” & “There sure is a lot of junk in there.”
