the chetco bubble is comming up next month, I havent fished this yet, looks like its going to be oct 7-8, 14-15, from the ca boarder to twin rocks and 3 miles off shore, 2 single barbless hooks only no treble hooks.
anyone planning on doing this? for those of you who have in the past, any advice for those of us that havent fished this yet?

Yessir I'll be there. Looks like 2nd weekend will have a decent kayak showing.

Advice is troll a pinned chovie or green label herring on a sliding mooching rig with barbless 3/0, 4/0 hooks behind a flasher and a deep 6

The fish are in the river now...bobber only, the river is low and easy to paddle up and fish a few holes without the pressure of others. Or stay low and fish the mouth, about 10 PB's were out on the mouth yesterday. Jacks and big fish both being taken.

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Nice!  I fished it in 2015, when the "season" was about 10 consecutive days.  Skunked though, conditions were very rough the one day I fished, most PB's were skunked also.  Next day a 42# was landed by the guy I fished with, 50# kings are hoped for and sometimes caught. Salmon/Steelhead Journal had a cover pic of a little Asian woman with a 53#who won the Chetco derby.  I think you'd have a hell of a time bringing anything over 40# to the boat, you'd be sleigh-riding to Monterey Bay!!
