Finally a little tiny bit of good news, I'll take anything good at this point in this messed up year...

The Sunset Bay Day Use area, which includes the primitive launch and parking area used by kayakers, had goofy "7am to 6pm" hours.

Forget early launching kayakers trying to beat the wind, who sets a 6pm closing time on a place people go to watch the sunset from the beach?

There were rumors it was changing and I just heard back from the State park manager there- she confirmed it will be changing to "Dawn to Dusk" hours, the new signs should be posted by early December.

cheers, roger

Better to keep ones mouth shut and presumed a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

On December 1st, dawn is 6:57am, and dusk is 5:14pm. Looks like you lost 43 minutes of access...

Unless they use ODFW's legal sunrise/sunset, which would make it 5:47AM to 6:14PM   :banjo:

It is great news, regardless.  Next June 1st, we get 5:42AM/4:42AM(?) to 8:51PM/9:51PM(?).

Thanks for the heads-up, roger!

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Last time a talked with an odfw employee and game enforcement trooper about “Dawn-dusk” it was our understanding from the conversation that it’s the same as shooting light..... 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hours after sunset! YMMV

For game fish the regulations say that daylight hours are from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset (page 20).

For all other marine fish, the regulations say the marine fishery is open 24-hours per day (page 81).  Since page 81 doesn't say "open 24 hours" for marine game fish, I'll stick with page 20.

Yes but we’re talking about a county/state (not sure which) park so there might be some confusion as to their  interpretation so I’d personally ask the head of the department that’s in charge of the park for something in an email form as to there exact definition of dawn and dusk. Just my $0.02

Btw dawn to dusk is usually considered shooting light for the 1/2 hours comment.

My bad, Mojo. Sorry.  I've been fact-checking and doing research on something entirely different for the past two weeks and didn't put that mindset aside... but at least it suggests I might still have a mind.  Of sorts.   :D
