I need some input on installing a transducer for a Garmin echoMap 43 on my new Revolution 13. My thoughts are that instead of hollowing out the hull in front of the scupper plate, I could just clip the mounting prongs at the back of the plate, slide the transducer all the way to the back and goop in place.
Any thoughts or opinions as to whether this will or won’t work will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Not sure if the plate is the same on the Revo. I used a piece of thick cutting board to make a bracket for my Garmin transducer. It works well on my Outback and my Tandem Island.

Looks like the same exact plate. I was just having some concerns about the transducer extending past the plate and fitting tight between the hull and the plate. If you are having good results I will give it a try.

Thanks

I have the longer gt22 transducer on my boats.  I had to Dremel off the back prong of the transducer plate to have enough room for the transducer.

How did you attach the transducer after cutting the prong ?

I mounted my garmin transducer the exact same way Idaho Brit did (in fact, I think I stole the idea from a post of his). Works flawlessly.  Transducer is completely safe, perfect performance....from what I can tell.

That was my first attempt. I was able to shorten the cutting board spacer to get the front of the transducer a bit further forward, closer to the bracket on the cover plate. It is still peeking out at the back but the cover is a bit flexible and it works great. I stick a hose down the scupper tube occasionally and give it a blast of water in order to flush out any debris.

Its not attached.  Friction fit using pool noodle chunks.

That is a good option too. When I first got my Garmin I mounted it loose in there. Gravity kept it in place. I changed to the fixed option as I used to tip the Outback to get it on the scupper cart for recovery and didn't like it moving around in there. If I'd thought of the pool noodle packing I would have done that too.

Thanks for the replies.
I like the pool noodle method much better than my goop idea.
It’s been a mild winter in my neck of the woods and there’s some open water to be found, trying to get her outfitted to have a chance to get blood on the deck on her maiden voyage.

Amik,

Looks like this Garmin transducer has similar shape to the Raymarine dragonfly transducer.  Plenty of pics on the internet of how Dragonfly users get them to fit in the Lowrance-ready hole.  It's worth a google.  The end of the transducer sticking out is not a problem.

Regards,
A Dragonfly user.

Thanks for all the responses. I decided to go with the pool noodle approach, everything is set up and waiting for a good day to give it a go. This weekend looks promising.

I did something similar to the top post, but with some cut sheet aluminum. I have a '17 revo13.

Finally got the new boat on the water today. No fish but the Garmin worked great.

Here is my update for the next guy or gal who tries this....

What I found that worked really well was to cut the top off a plastic tree falling wedge. Go to the hardware store and buy one for maybe $7. Or if your buddy is a logger, I am sure he will have a pile of old garbage wedges.

The plastic is thick and real easy to cut and drill holes in it.

Pictures attached. LOL the picture makes it look like a stick of butter.
