New to the Puget Sound

Hello everyone,

I just relocated to Kitsap County, Washington and I look forward to learning more about kayak fishing in the ocean. I am used to fishing from a kayak in lakes and reservoirs, but I see that the ocean is a whole different game. Hopefully I can meet up with some of you in the future!

Big difference between the ocean and puget sound, but it’s a great place to get your salt wetting. Keep an eye out for local outings. Would appreciate a beverage sometime talking about lake experiences.

I guess I'm showing my inexperience with the area. When I use the term "ocean", I basically mean salt water, Puget Sound included. It annoys locals, including my wife; when they say ocean, they mean Washington Coast like Oceans Shores. Either way I agree that the Puget Sound is a better place to learn how to kayak fish in saltwater.

Takes a little time lol...I now laugh when friends from the Midwest visit and are impressed with how close the “ocean” is, just like I did for a while. Start looking up Puget Sound tide charts and it will come quickly.

Lots of good places around here to get used to saltwater and its tides & currents...  Won't help much if you decide to hit those ocean beaches where you need to do surf launches, but it's a good start.    So where in Kitsap are you?  There are a bunch of us down a bit south of you around Gig Harbor...
