Hello Board,

I am new to Kayak fishing. I have a 11 foot cheapy costco special that I have been taking to the high mountain lakes around Mt. Hood. To be honest I never thought I would take to this type of fishery. I typically fish big water in my Hewes craft. The wife and I bought a set on a whim. Now we are mounting rod holders and all sorts of gadgets. LOL!

Welcome, Matt! Lots of great info here. Sometimes things get a little quiet while the fishing and weather are both good, but there's usually someone around. Where are you finding fish on Mt. Hood right now? We had good luck at Trillium earlier in the season but I haven't made it out much in the last month or so.

Welcome Matt!
I think we all agree there's something special about fishing from the kayaks over a big boat. As you get more comfortable and gear up some more you'll start being able to fish some more of that "big water" from the kayak as well.
