Hey everyone,

I just wanted to post a big thank you to everyone on the forum for the information shared about the awesome flounder fishery on the Nisqually Delta. I have been a pretty accomplished angler for quite some time, but have kind of stayed in my lane of bass/steelhead/trout. I am kind of branching out this year and attempting things that I've never done, since I have the kayak instead of my other stable of boats. One of these on my list was catching some flounder. I learned quite a few lessons on my own, fishing both Thursday and Friday (28 & 29 March). Day one, I was fishing a twin tail chartreuse grub, but was highly ineffective, not knowing my retrieve, and fishing way too fast. I only landed 1 fish in the 4 hours I was on the water. Day 2 was a completely different experince. I went back, did some more research here on the forum, and a few other places, went to Cabelas, bought some Gulp! minnows, and rigged up a drop shot. What happened on day 2 made me a believer. I landed about 25 Starry's in the 2.5 hours I had to fish, and had an absolute blast catching them on some UL tackle! I was wandering around in my PA 14, and it was the first time she'd seen saltwater since my purchase in September 2018. I'm looking forward to exploring some new stuff this season, and this was only the start. Thank you to all who have posted tips and tricks throughout the years, as it seriously helps guys like me do something new.

I fished there Friday evening and had really good results with a 15gram flat sided jig with tiny hooks. The fishing there is so much fun! try down by the green day marker next time.

One of these days I'm going to rig up my old SF Bay halibut trolling gear and troll it. There are big fish in there, I caught a 7lb starry fishing for Chinook last year and saw someone with one easily over 10lbs about five years ago.

Fish hard.
