Near the island in ~60'.  1st time I've fished this lake and 1st time I've caught a Kokanee on this long line rig.  Didn't seem to matter what you hung off the end of your line.

$5 to use the Mongold facilities.  Credit card accepted.

Nice! Was thinking about heading out there tomorrow.

You can also launch from the Detroit Flats Day Use Area.  It was rehabbed last fall and appears to have reopened.   There were cars and people in there when I went by today so I'm assuming it is open.  No fee the last time I checked plus it's a bit closer to the island and less exposure to the wind.
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

Thanks for the suggestion. We tried that for a quick outing Sunday evening.  The launch worked well. Got a few trout, no Kokanee.

At what depth were you getting them?

45ft was the magic depth for seeing fish on the fishfinder, but caught my limit on a longline with 1/2oz of lead.  Nice chunky fish, but a limit of 5 makes for a short day catching.
Have a great couple days camping up there - great weather with no wind.

Late to this kokanee party but heading to Detroit for memorial day weekend. Wedding rings the ticket with shoepeg or something else?
