Hey friends,
I'm planning an outing for Lingcod around Burrows or Allen- May 28 (Tues). Any tips, or better yet, company would be welcome.
This time, I want to try live bait: Sand dabs then Ling. I'll only be in town for a week and fishing for a day.

So, this response is too late for you it seems but I'll post anyway for other's as Ling is still open and there are some good tides coming. I launch from Cabana park at Skyline. The biggest thing to watch is the tide. Through Burrow's Pass it can really rip, whirlpools and all. I only go in my Kayak on days where the tide is fairly flat, like the next 3 days, June 9, 10, 11 in the AM. However, to be frank, Burrow's pass is the reason I decided to add a trolling motor and bilge pump to my kayak! Of course you can avoid the pass and fish anywhere in that area.
The fishing there has been good. I haven't caught too many keepers so far but lots of 14" and up lings along with some rockfish. There's a young guy at Holiday Sports who will show you a picture of a 50" ling he caught off Allen. I use a 'pearl' swimbait on a 3 oz gig. I also glue on 'eyes'. Hope this helps you or someone!

Thanks for the comment, @crabby. Feedback and discussion in always fun and useful. I made the trip, launched from Bowman Bay. This was an easy launch with handy parking. My goal was to learn how to catch and use live bait for lings. The tide was flat, so I fished the NW pass for sand dabs. After 10 clams, I landed a perfect and very lively bait! The wind in the morning was S 10 knots, so I deployed drift sock to slow my drift. This area is more mud that sand, so probably not the most productive for sand dabs. I paddled hard upwind to Deception Island, but found the rocks to be shallow and didn't see much luck finding any lings. However, it was a blast trying with my "lively" bait. I continued to try Urchin Rocks and Coffin Rocks, but I don't thing the habitat was right for lings. After finally wearing out the poor dab, I jigged a curlytail until my time was up. The wind disappeared at noon and the kayaking was pretty effortless. Last year I fished S of Allan by Williamson Rocks finding some sublegal lings by jigging. With the stiff wind, I didn't feel like crossing the bay and the tide was going the wrong way for launching at Skyline. No lings, but: I successfully fished 3 rods with 3 different rigs, drift sock and live bait. I would love to learn more about this area and refine my game, so thanks for the feedback. There are some old posts on this area, so if anyone has more accurate spots, I would welcome the suggestions. My next trip is July 15 with more time to get out. This time, salmon. Maybe I'll start a new post for that trip.
Cheers.
