I need to experiment with different video editors before I decide to buy one (unless someone knows a decent free one) And I need to work on managing all my gear in a kayak out in the ocean, especially when salmon fishing. But I finally threw together a small video with several clips I got over the last several weeks. If you're into watching someone else catch fish give it a watch!

Nice video.. you should be able to post youtube videos directly... but it seems broken.  I'll look into it.

I usually use Adobe Premiere but have been working with two free editors, DaVinci Resolve and Lightworks.  Of the two, DaVinci is as powerful (and almost as complex) as Premiere.  Both are available for PC or Mac.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Awesome video T Coastal.  What an epic day!

Were you trolling herring or a spinner?  I also noticed you were trolling a lot slower than what I'm used to, so thanks for showing us all how to slay the coho.

Just a thought, but Is there any way for you to store your landing net on the other side of your kayak so you can grab it with your free, left hand?  Watching the videos, and seeing you switch hands with the rod and net multiple times, in my head I'm thinking, no way that fish is staying hooked with barbless hooks, but you managed to keep them on.  Might be easier to be able to reach back and grab the net with your free hand?  However, I also realize that may get in the way of the camera.

I also recognize that you caught more coho in one day than I've caught all season, so please disregard if the suggestion isn't a good one.   Well done on your first video.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check em out. I used Lightworks for this last one. It worked okay after watching a few tutorials but will check out DaVinci for the next one to see if I like it better.

I was trolling brads the first day (when I had the blue pool noodle on my rod) and herring the second day - the last 2 clips came from that second day. I am truly amazed that I did not lose both of those fish using barbless hooks with as much as I had to screw with the net. I lost about 5 more over the course of two days while I was keeping tension on the whole time. I just got extremely lucky I guess! I prefer to try and troll around 1.5-2MPH, I've fished the salt a lot on different boats over the years and like to think I notice more strikes that stick when I am trolling a little slower, might just be in my head though. They do say the Chinook like a little slower bait ;) What's more amazing to me is how deep they were that day, I had 90' of line out on both those last clips and was not marking any fish around that 45' depth line. Again, I guess I am just lucky  ;D

I would love to store that net on the lefthand side but when I was building my GoPro mount I was thinking of recording all the bottomfish action (I don't bring a net on the bottomfishing only trips usually) and so I built the mount to fit and angle correctly while sititng in the left side rod holder. I am looking into other GoPro mounting options to free up the left hand rod holder, as well as looking at front or other net mounting options. I definitely did not think about trying to fight with the net until it was game on time.  I appreciate all suggestions as I know there's so much I can still improve on, That's why I joined this forum! Thanks a lot for the feedback.

Thanks for posting T Coastal.  Put it on my big screen and sat real close, almost almost like I was there.

Watched the whole thing - loved every minute of it. Perfect camera position. It really takes a lot of skill to land big fish in a paddle kayak. I hope I have as much luck when they hit the sound later on. Keep rippin' it up but save some for me!  :D

Sweet video! I also have the net on the right, only because the range of motion in my left shoulder isn’t good at all for reaching back. It’s not too tough to switch hands long enough to lay the net across my lap some time during the fight while the fish is putting good tension on the line. Consider laying the net across your lap rather than setting it at the front of the kayak where there tends to be lots of things for the net to get caught up on, it may help.
Again, sweet video! Looks like you kill it out there!

Nice video T, if you could practice laying your paddle across your lap, put the net on the bow with the handle either in a tension broom clip or if it’s round enough at the handle a mag light holder.

Ahhh! I didn’t think about that. The paddle is across his lap already. The net would be in the way across his lap like I suggested. 🥴
