I'm planning on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning at Depoe.

Do you think it worth bringing  the crab pots?

Ocean models are showing some interesting stuff going on off the Newport-Depoe area lately. All that cold, brown water is oxygen-deficient. Beyond the surf line, models are showing the kayak-range waters only ranging around 2-4 mg/L. This could explain the slowdown in the salmon bite, and probably the bottomfish bite as well.

It looks like nearshore oxygen levels should be improving as we head towards the weekend.

I'm planning on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning at Depot.

You better start spelling Depoe correctly or the Chief will put a hex on you and you'll get skunked.

Great info. Chris!  I can't believe I didn't already have this site marked.
Also, I think this explains my last Chinook biting at 6 pulls.  It looks like most of the dissolved oxygen is close to the surface.

For sure Mark, it's a killer resource! Real easy to get lost in there, messing with all the different layers. The difference in oxygen concentration from 10 to 33 feet is remarkable. I was kinda thinking the same thing about trolling with a light weight up top next time I'm out.
