Anyone around the South Sound going out this Sunday?

Took the Lund out around Browns Pt after work and did pretty well with a buddy. Picked up the two below. Caught them at 20’ on the downrigger but we can easily hit that depth in a kayak. Will probably launch around there Sunday am.

Cheers

Nice fish!  What time were you thinking? High tide at 0630...

Thanks! I’m thinking I will try to get to the parking lot at 5:30. I’m thinking Thea Foss and just hit the mouth area. I’m still new to this kayak fishing addiction haha. Kayaking all the way over to Browns Point seems a bit far. If we have more people on site we could also mooch the eddy off Owens Beach with relative safety.

Also if anyone cares or was curious these were caught on a standard size white dodger 11”? and a pink squid hootchie with Shrimp scent...

Because it’s a big ocean and I’m into sharing haha

Hmm. Last weekend was a 7-boat skunkfest at the mouth chasing pinks.  We were in close, though. The rest of them were flicking bugs, I was tossing jigs and ended up with one small dogfish as the best of the day...  Browns Point would definitely be too far from the Thea Foss. There’s a launch out at BP somewhere but never been out there.  Owens Beach might be kinda crazy if weather is halfway nice, though not at 0530 😁

Not sure what plans have been made for me for the weekend, if it looks possible I’ll post up tomorrow.

If the family responsibilities get accomplished, I hope to fish Browns Pt tomorrow morning.  I'm going to try and launch from BP.  There is a small pedestrian opening large enough for a kayak to roll through but it can get blocked with cars.  If it's blocked, I'll try Dash Pt Park.  It's only about a mile north of BP and the water is very fishable between the points.
Yellow Hobie.  I'll probably be untangling my fly rod most of the time!
BTW....if you decide to try BP..respect the 'no parking' signs.  I've seen quite a few cars towed.

Nice pinks! Hope you guys bag a few more tomorrow.   :D

bogueYaker and I will be launching from Golden Gardens at 5:30 AM (parking lot at 5) if anyone wants to join us. I'm hoping we'll catch a silver or 2 as their CPUE seems to be on the rise in the past few days.

Just stopped by Thea Foss. There were about 15 boats fishing in front of the silos. Only about 2 in front of Browns Point. I think I’m going to try around Thea Foss tomorrow in the morning. As soon as I figure out how to get my kayak over those big steps haha. Maybe I will meet up with you over at Dash Point... definitely an easier launch.

Got out on the water at BP at 6am.  Guys on the beach were doing pretty well.  Saw six or so healthy sized fish landed.  Didn't see one boat net one, including myself.  Not one grab.  Almost ran over a pretty good sized 'riser', but couldn't get a grab with either a trolling lure on a flasher, or a usually pretty reliable rabbit fur streamer.  Ah well, peaceful morning, and it's always sort of calming to hear the beach guys quietly talking and joking with the occasional splash of a hooked fish.  Really calm water and a perfect tide swing.  Got three hours in before the family had breakfast!
Hope some of you had better luck!

We hit the Foss waterway this morning and the bite was on with early limits of pinks. Best moment was a surprisingly big takedown of a pink squid jig on a light spinning reel with 10 lb test. After a chase, a nice sized Chinook was recovered and released. This year's pink run seems better than expected.

Great looking fish!  Do you think the pinks get fooled by the large stormwater drains at the end of Foss dumping all that freshwater?
Good sized pinks this year too.  Two years ago was such a disaster...and the coho has yet to even really start!

So just FYI - coho are starting to come in now. We had a blast fishing off of Meadow point this morning. Hopefully they'll be rolling on down to you guys soon.  :)
