Because I live only 70 miles from Flathead Lake, I'm going to stick with participating in the Mack Days.  See https://www.mackdays.com/.  There's no application fee, it lasts for two months in the spring and two months in the fall, and there's good payouts.

Make sure you have cell signal where you're competing. (Must upload your entries OTW, if I'm understanding the rules correctly.) I'm not personally too keen on KBF and similar org's rules but it looks like it could be fun.

Pmmpete- I understand not wanting to compete nationally... Flathead isnt a strong enough fishery to beat oregon let alone utah/wyoming/colorado.

Captain Redbeard -as far as submission is concerned Tourney x allows you to upload when service becomes available. It will use your location in the

Cool. A couple of years ago in OKBF there were issues getting entries in with no cell signal using TourneyX.

I would've said you're a shoe-in for this challenge, but only if Casey doesn't sign up  ;).

Flathead is the only lake I know of which has a limit of 100 lake trout per day.  And if you look at the statistics on the Mack Days webpage, there are a number of anglers who caught 100 lake trout on multiple days during the derby.  See, for example, the Spring 2019 statistics at https://www.mackdays.com/Stats2/, which show that the winner, Jason Mahlen, caught a total of 2134 lake trout, and caught 100 lake trout on 15 different days.  While Mack Days focuses on numbers, not size, and many Mack Days anglers concentrate on catching smaller fish because they can be caught faster and take up less room in a cooler, there are lots of big lake trout in the lake.  I routinely catch lake trout over 30 inches long.  So I'm not worried about being able to compete in a national competition. Its just that I can have plenty of fun and make plenty of money with no entry fee during Mack Days.

I routinely break 36"... nearly every trip... I stand by my words... in a 3 fish total length format flat head would require a lot of sifting to get to the big fish... like you pointed out... people are catching 100 pups in a day... Flaming gorge is starting to have the same issue... not good for a trophy fishery. But like you said... you only want to compete locally which I totally get.
