Can you explain why the conditions don't look as good on saturday? My brother and I were thinking about trying our hand at ocean fishing for the first time.

Hey all - thank you for all of the invites and encouragement to join tomorrow, but after some additional consideration I think I'm going to need to pass. Next time! Good luck tomorrow and be safe.

Forecast is calling for wind from Friday afternoon into Saturday, which could result in choppy conditions from the get-go Saturday morning. Magic Seaweed is calling for both a primary 3+ foot swell and a secondary 3 foot swell coming from the same direction, so there's the potential for stacked swells. Those conditions won't make Saturday unfishable, but Friday morning's forecast is looking much more comfy.

After looking you gotta get up DAMN early because you want a minimum 1 hour to get out before low tide.

Pretty nice out there today.
Launched from North Fogarty as I'm lazy and slow, not a single spot to park at Depoe
Threw back a big cabby and a little one.
Kept a limit of rockfish and a 23 inch ling.
Then the wind kicked out out of the north and it was over.
I saw a lot of boats out today.

Is that the pullout just north of boiler Bay? I saw a couple guys with kayaks there this morning. Looks like a steep climb.

Busy port today! Last Sunday was a ghost town, but today had trailers and kayakers filling the entire parking lot. I spent my first hour trolling for Chinook. Worked my way out to the 100 foot contour, but I didn't see a lick of bait or any other salmon sign. I moved onto the reef by 0900. Lingcod and black rockfish bite was absolute fire, definitely better than the last couple times I've been out. Must've landed around twenty lingcod and I don't know how many blacks. Took home the 34 incher in the photo and a 31 incher.

I saw at least a dozen kayaks on the water today, and most everyone I spoke with (both kayaks and power boats) did very well today. A lot of limits. Just one of those days where the fish were chomping anything you dropped down there  ;D.

I ended up changing plans last minute and going to Depoe Bay. Tons of ling cod, but couldn't get any big ones. Settled for 2 24inch fish and a limit of bass. There bass were slow for me, so I kept some drinks.i saw some folks getting their bass on the surface.
