Hello Everyone,

Am I the only one looking at the ocean forecast for Friday and Saturday?

I can't think if a better way to avoid the craziness and crowds than to spend the day in my kayak.  Today, the forecast for Friday and Saturday look like summer conditions.  Unless the forecast takes a turn for the worse, I'm heading down in the morning for some bottom fish and crabbing.

Happy to meet up there with anyone else that's interested in fishing.

I'm planning on going to either PC or Depoe Bay on Friday. If folks are headed to Depoe, I'll probably go there. Is anyone catching Chinook yet?

I'll be at Depoe tomorrow. Forecast looks great! I came across some bait schools last weekend, so I may bring the salmon gear and give it a whirl if I can get my lings early.

Dampainter, word on the street is the crabbing's been slow.

I'll be there tomorrow with my wife. Off topic, but I heard rumors of them building a kayak ramp. Has anyone heard any updates on this, or is that just a rumor?

I've heard the same rumor.  It's suppose to go right next to the existing ramp, but not sure who's going to build it or pay for it. Would be a great opportunity for a volunteer event, if we could get whichever government entity oversees and approves such a project.

I may make it out. If I do it will be an early launch because I have to get back to work the afternoon.

Hi all - Would any one of you all be willing to take me under your wing for a few hours tomorrow?  I have a lot of experience kayak fishing in the Columbia in some pretty gnarly wind waves out of Hood River, but haven't ever endeavored into the salt outside of the estuary in Astoria.  I've been drooling for the chance to fish for rockfish for about a year now and would love to get some ocean safety pointers from seasoned fisherman/women.  I've practiced re-entry and boat righting, have immersion gear, and know the fishing game.  If anyone is willing, what time would you be launching?  PM me if easier... Cheers!

Larry, when this quarantine thing gets better, we'll have to head out there in the summer and fall. I know that doesn't answer tomorrow's question, though I'd really love to go myself. I have myself trapped in the middle of a kitchen counter remodel...

I plan to launch between 8-8:30am.  If that timing works for you, you are welcome to join me.  If that timing doesn’t work, just introduce yourself at the ramp and jump in with any of the kayaks headed out. I’m sure there will be a bunch.   As long as someone in your group has a radio to announce to the Coast Guard that you are going through the hole, you should be good.

I will be in a gray Ford pu with a canopy and have a Dune colored Hobie.

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

So, change of plans for me. I'm going to head to pacific city instead. I'll be parking in the parking lot, and carting the kayaks down.

I haven't been on this site for awhile, but I am planning to fish PC tomorrow also. My usual fishing buddies have all bailed so it's good to know at least one other kayak fisher person will be out there. I'm planning to get there around 7:30. White Subaru, red kayak. I'll introduce myself if I see you.

Sudden change of plans for me, an all hands company meeting right in the middle of the day that I need to attend.  I may shift things to fish on Saturday, although the conditions won't be nearly as nice or nice at all.

Good luck to everyone out there.  If it's your first time at Depoe Bay, please make sure you team up with someone who's done it before.
