Regarding the 'Stay at Home' order, this part is key(and basically makes it useless IMO):

I'd keep an eye on the fishing regulations as well. A lot of fisheries require state agencies to sample them, if there isn't staff to sample because they're 'staying in place' there might be fishery closures.

I fat thumbed this. Didn’t mean to press the report button. Not sure if it actually did anything. Was just trying to open the photo so I could ready the words that are not showing

Siuslaw National Forest has closed all its campgrounds, recreation sites, day use areas, trailheads, boat ramps, and other facilities. I'm unaware of what other National Forests in Oregon are doing. As of now, the agency's leaving these closure decisions up to the individual Forests' discretion.

I got an email from the PCDA. It said recreational fishing in Tillamook  County is going dark. They tried to argue it's a food source, but the state and county countered that it brings too many people to the coast and maintaining a safe distance on a charter is too difficult.

They said a press release will be forthcoming with implementation details. I suppose Lincoln County will follow suit.

I have not seen any notice of season closures on ODFW's website.  See this page:  https://myodfw.com/COVID-19

The difficulty I see in pursuing fishing is finding access, which seems to be shut tight by the cities, counties, and state.  I think people will have to be using the "informal" access points to get in the fishing they want to do.

In PC, the beach is open and surfing and kayaking are fine as far as I can tell.  The ramp at the beach is only open to the commercial dory guys. if U want to fish the ocean you just need to find a parking spot and roll to the beach.  Best done alone, not in groups.

That's good to know, thanks. I haven't heard if the public ramp at Depoe Bay is closed yet, but I imagine they'll close it soon. It'd be the smart thing to do, otherwise it'll get swamped since the South Beach ramp is now closed. Since the state recreation areas are also closed, places like Fogarty Creek are out of the question as well.

Problem with this is finding the place to park before you roll to the beach, most sides of the roadways were closed with the county closure. I suppose if you knew someone who lived in PC you'd be able to park in their yard but not all of us know someone who would let ya. I'm just planning on sitting tight for the time being.

Around Netarts Bay,  there are signs at most, but not all, of the pullouts that say "No parking and No access".   The boat launch has barrels blocking the entrances.   The parking lot out at Bayocean is closed off at the turn with "Road Closed" signs.  What I found odd was the Memaloose launch on Bayocean Rd was not blocked off.

Surprising that Memaloose is not blocked off.

In PC, there’s public parking right on Kiwanda Drive and other streets nearby.  I don’t think there is some kind of no public parking order (the Kiwanda store and taco place remain open).  It’’s really quiet here at the beach.  Just waiting for a decent forecast.

Here’s Saturday and then Monday.....

Just in case anyone still had questions about whether we can still go fish'n.     I saw this question/answer article with Oregon State Police on KATU.com.  It's all about finding access and maintaining the social distance: https://katu.com/news/local/oregon-state-police-answers-faqs-related-to-stay-at-home-order

CAN I STILL GO HIKING AND FISHING?

Yes. Oregonians can still recreate outdoors, if their recreational activity involves non-contact with others and they can maintain appropriate social distancing- which is defined as 6 feet or more from others. Oregonians and visitors to our state should be aware most campgrounds and boat ramps are closed, so you should research your plans before recreating.

Siuslaw National Forest lands are now closed to all recreation. This definitely puts a damper on my steelhead ideas  :-\.

https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/siuslaw/home/?cid=FSEPRD712205

State Parks and Recreation sites are closed. National Forest lands are closed. With the State encouraging outdoor recreation, where do they now expect people to recreate? Only spots left now on the central coast are the beaches and private timber lands. Won't that encourage the crowding we're attempting to discourage?
