Ran across this video for making rod holders, thought some of you might find it useful. I just made a set while I'm stuck in the house for the quarantine. Can't report back on how well they work yet, but it looks decent and was pretty easy. Only hard part is downsizing the 1 1/2 in PVC to the size of the stock hobie rod holder, that took forever. If anyone comes up with a better way to do that let me know. There must be a easier way.

Ho-hum... seen this idea a hundred million times or more.   ;D
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Good video man. Rigging up your own kayak is one of the coolest parts about this style of fishing!

It is cool, but how many rods does a person need at one time?

I'm thinking of doing something like this too. My reason is that I might want to carry a couple rods, a net, maybe a light or safety flag, maybe a gopro...things like that. The two built-in holders just aren't enough (in *my* opinion). Might not need to add 6-8 tubes, but adding a couple more wouldn't hurt.

Great question with a lot of variables.  I think four has been my max on board.  If I broke down all trips and number of rods it would probably look like this, 1% four, 29% three, 40% two, 30% one.  How about you?

Does anyone ever bring along a rod you aren't going to use because you are afraid to leave it in the truck? ;)

I brought four one time and regretted it. Usually, two does it, rarely three.

I was hoping you popped in to cover your obsession for the most amount of rod holders and cameras on deck.    ;)

I made a PVC rod holder myself back in 2009 for my T13.  I found that when I ventured out to Hagg Lake, I seemed to need two trout rods (one for trolling, one for casting lures).  Then a bass rod, and a crappie rod.  All my rods where available and rigged for whatever part of the lake I found myself fishing in, without the need to paddle over mile back to the truck.

Fast forward several years.....
I hardly ever fish Hagg Lake anymore, let alone for trout, bass and crappie.  I have been spoiled with the bounties of the ocean.  So, with that I carry two cheap Ugly Stiks one a bait caster, the smaller lighter one is a spin cast.  And on most days I have my trusty Barbie rod in my hand the most.

Yeah yeah, I needed something to do while daydreaming about fishing, this fit the bill. Still haven't used the thing yet

Yeah, I'm loving it! To be clear I didn't make this video, this is from some guy in Hawaii. He uses it for big pelagic fish, Tuna, Mahi etc... Makes me dang jealous to have access to those type of fish from a yak
