Anyone know who this was? Hope they are okay! Waders and ocean do not mix.

yeah, rubber waders just make things worse, sure hope they are OK.  on the other hand, the semi-dry/paddling suits most of us wear add bouyancy due to air trapped in them.

This is why it is sooooo important that as a community we do not shy away from discouraging the idea of waders as a safe immersion option.

It is too easy for people to forget that a TIGHT wading belt is required, and even then it doesn't prevent water from getting in. Yeah, it won't sink you, but it sure will keep you from getting back in your boat.

Before I even went in the ocean in a kayak, a wet-suit was the first item on my list for safety gear. Dunno what would give someone the idea waders is okay. I would go in waders in a river if I was in tidewater sure, somewhere I might want to get out for whatever reason, but that would never be a plan in the ocean.  ???

I think Rudy from our Alaskan contingent had a bad experience wearing waders while either salmon or halibit fishing in his, early days.  It wasn't a pleasant read..
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

Is the beach launch open? I looked on Tillamook county web sight but can't find any info on the beach access.
